September Round-up

Wilhoggs-equinox-2021

18th/19th September
The big event of the weekend was the annual Equinox 24 hour event. Congratulations to team Wildhoggs (Dan, Neil, Sam, Marcus, Blake, Harry, Mat J and Sezer), who managed 25 laps and Terry who followed a long tradition of valiant solo efforts with 10 laps.

Elsewhere, Mike Cummins ran the Bristol HM in 1.48.29. and Dave Lodwick did a little fell race in the Cheviots.

25th/26th September
We had 19 finishers in the inaugural Rotherby 8. Not the easiest course, but an enjoyable race nonetheless. We had a great battle between Gurmit and Matt for the honour of being ‘top Hogg’. In the end, Matt judged the rather tricksy finish best and took the verdict on the line. Kathryn had a more comfortable margin, but Leah had a strong run for 2nd. We’ll have to wait for the final tables (probably Thursday), but I’m confident we’ll have several awards to celebrate. I’ll update you when I know the outcome.

Elsewhere, we had representation in the Clipston Trail Half. Sam J finished a fantastic 6th over all (1.38.09), Richard (1.46.23) was first V60 (18th over all), Charly (2.09.03) was first Senior lady (4th lady over all) and Brian (3.11.20) was 2nd V70.

Further afield, second claimer Ludo ran 2.33.22 in the Berlin Marathon. That’s slightly outside his PB but will probably still rank him in the top 10 for his age in the UK!
