August Round Up

Week 1

We had a fantastic 42 finishers in last Wednesday’s Joy Cann 5. From Mo in 1st to Brian in 558th there were lots of great runs. Here are just a few highlights: Mo, Tim P, Sally, Martin Crighton, Mark Richards, Sarah V, Minisha, Adele, Grace, Gurmit, Helen W, Ian and Sarah R all recorded PBs, Mo went under 25 minutes, Brian completed all 10 distances in the County Standards scheme, Nigel completed his Bronze and Sarah R, her Tungsten.

On Wednesday, Haseeb gained his 4th Gold Standard of the year and on Saturday he upgraded his 5k parkrun time to gain the all important 5th. He and guide Matt were a model of efficiency; Haseeb needed 20.34 (or better) and they crossed the line in exactly that.

Week 2

Congratulations to Mat Jenkinson, who married Cerys on Saturday. We wish you every happiness together. Roadhoggs were well represented on the guest list and the local Erddig parkrun saw a burgundy influx as people grabbed their weekly fix.

Week 3

We are less than 2 weeks away from the final LRRL race of the season. Our senior men need a better result than Hinckley to stay in Division 1. Sadly, our senior women are already as good as relegated. A strong result from our vet men could see them finish 3rd, our vet women will end in 4th or 5th and our mixed team are on course to stay up. In the individual competition, Kathryn currently sits 2nd V50, Gurmit 3rd V40, Ashveer is guaranteed at least 2nd U20, Dave P has a shot at 3rd V55, Brian sits 2nd V75 and Mo needs a win or 2nd to take the overall title.
