Cross Country Captain & Coach
I’ve been a member of Roadhoggs since 2010 and have loved my journey with the club. Being part of the Hoggs’ supportive club community has helped me grow not only as a runner, but personally too. So, I’m really keen to actively give back to the Hoggs and support others in the way I’ve been supported over the years.
I’m a qualified Coach in Running Fitness (CiRF) and since March 2019 I’ve been co-leading fortnightly interval sessions on Tuesday evenings at Victoria Park, with Richard or Dave picking up the alternate weeks. In November 2021, I became Men’s Deputy Cross Country Captain, taking over the Men’s Cross Country Captain mantle from Kim Richardson when he retired from the role.
Cross country is most definitely my favourite type of running – I love the endless variety. It’s not just the unique terrain of each course, but even the same course can be so different from one year to the next depending on weather variations. It’s a new experience with new challenges at every race!
Outside of the Hoggs, I’m a Run Leader for Active Oadby and Wigston and lead a Beginners Running Group. I also bring my passion for fitness and helping people meet their fitness goals to my day job as a personal trainer and gym supervisor at David Lloyd Leicester Meridian.
The best thing about coaching is watching people develop and grow in confidence, helping them along their own journeys and sharing a love of running. Like every runner I know, I’ve had my fair share of injuries and running lows, but being part of the Roadhoggs team has always seen me through. I’m always happy to chat, help and give advice, whether you’re interested in a spot of cross country, improving general fitness or would like help with a niggle.
