Lee Fairclough

Welfare Officer

I joined Roadhoggs in 2017 after moving to Leicester for work. I had started running only a few months earlier and heard about the club when I attended Parkrun at Victoria Park; the club was doing a Parkrun takeover, something which we’ve done a few times since then as well. I went to the Wednesday evening training session and was taken by how friendly and easy-going the club was. As a new and “steady” runner, and someone who was new to the area, this was important, and I can say that the atmosphere in the club that attracted me to join in the first place is still the same today as it was 5 years ago.

I run for my own enjoyment and the social side of the sport. Runners really are as friendly as they say. I take part in races throughout the year, but probably enjoy cross-country the most. Running through mud followed by cake is always a winner! I try to do my bit to make new members welcome and believe in encouraging anyone and everyone to take part in the sport that we all enjoy.
