Week 1
Congratulations to Matt L on a fantastic second place in the Tunnel Vision 5-miler. He was first veteran and recorded a time of just 30.42 on the multi-terrain course. Second claimer Richard C, Amy B and Charly also donned their head torches to splash through the puddles. Sam J was also on form, recording 39.36 in the Bonfire Burn 10k. I know Sally, Ruth and Brian ran Shepshed, but they’re always slow to post results.
Week 2
Shepshed managed to rush their results out for the end of the week ( 😉 ) and they were worth the wait. Gold Standard performances from Ruth (57.22) and Sally (57.35), and a pair of Tungstens from Sandra (1.26.47) and Brian (1.41.20). Sally’s time was enough to upgrade her 2023 Standard to Gold overall. This weekend, Haseeb added Ultrarunner to his impressive list of achievements, completing 30 miles around Holme Pierrepont, with Blake acting as one of his team of guides.
Dave P (120th) and James B (128th) were our representatives in the North Mids XC at Wicksteed Park on Saturday. The next fixture is at Heanor on the 2nd of December if you fancy it.
At parkrun, there were PBs for Ruth and Imran, with Imran matching Martin Crighton’s record of five in a row. As he emulates a top pole vaulter, advancing the bar by a cm each time, we’ll all be waiting to see if he can now make it six. There were also debuts from Rash and Sally.
Week 3
Boggy Bagworth was the main event of the weekend. Sam will provide a report once the results are out, but I know we had a fantastic turnout, with debuts from Ruth, Sally, Xiaoye and Nick. I’m sure Sam will be hoping for another bumper turnout next Sunday for the next round at Holly Hayes Wood (Whitwick).
The main parkrun news of the weekend was Harry celebrating his 250 milestone and even more impressively, his 200th volunteer credit. Last week I missed Nicole’s PB, so she very kindly repeated the feat this week! Super Imran made it 6 in a row; Charlotte and Minisha also got in on the PB action.
Week 4
We had a fantastic turnout for the Victoria Park Relays. Our men’s and women’s teams both finished 2nd, with our men involved in the most exciting finish in the history of the event.

On Sunday it was a day of contrasts. While Helen A was completing the Half Marathon in sunny Benidorm, a host of Hoggs were braving the somewhat chillier conditions at Holly Hayes. Sam J and Kathryn led home the respective teams.
