Week 1
What an epic day! Mud, cars stuck, unexpected sunshine, medical events, the Bosworth Half had it all. A few of you will recall an infamous edition of this race, where so many succumbed to the effects of an unusually hot day, that the emergency services were on the verge of calling a critical incident and demanding the race be abandoned midway through. Thankfully, Sunday was nothing like that bad but the medics were kept busier than they would like and few people managed to achieve their pre-race targets.
It was a pleasure to welcome Xander, Paul and Marjorie to their first LRRL races for the club. No one managed a PB, but Dave P achieved a Diamond Standard and there were Golds for Gurmit, Haseeb, Kathryn, and Marjorie. Kathryn and Marjorie were also first in their age categories.
Congratulations to Matt Langtree on a fantastic second place in the Malvern Hills Ultramarathon (30 mile option), which included over 5000ft of vert.
Elsewhere, Dave Brownlow (57.28) and Hilary Browne (1.19.16) took on the scenic Llangollen Trail 10K.
Week 2
Some excellent performances this weekend. On Saturday, Gurmit ran a PB of 16.47.66 in the 5000m at the Leicestershire & Rutland Track & Field Championships, gaining a silver medal. On Sunday he picked up another silver and another PB in the 1500m. Mike made his annual trip to the Bristol HM and came home in 1.32.40.
We love a winner, and even more so when it’s a serial winner! Massive congratulations to Sam J, who retained his Naseby 10k title and set a course record.
Week 3
We had a fantastic morning yesterday. Lovely weather, a nice course (if you forget the lumpy bit) and a record number of Roadhogg finishers (41). We also had great debuts from Sally and Sandra. Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves and there were more good performances than I can possibly mention here. I believe there were PBs for Blake, Leah, Gurmit, Kathryn, John D, Anna, Nigel, Helen W, Charlotte and Martin Cr. Kathryn completed her Diamond County Standard and there were Golds for Dave P, Gurmit, Matt L and Haseeb.
Week 4
I hope you’ve all had an enjoyable Bank Holiday. The Livingston Relays were the big event of the weekend and we fielded 2 men’s and 2 ladies teams:
Senior Men A 17th/34 (Dave P, 17.49; Tim 18.44; Blake 20.32; Ashveer 19.10)
Senior Men B 27th/34 (Neil, 22.02; Terry, 22.22; Gurtej, 20.46; Dan, 22.28)
Senior Ladies 2 (19/31) Adele, 24.47; Helen W, 24.55; Anna, 22.27)
Senior Ladies 1 22nd/31 (Sophie, 23.40; Cath, 27.14; Charly, 24.42)
Terry’s leg was merely a warm up, because he stayed on to do a Super Sprint Triathlon in 47.29 as well.
