Week 1
It was the County XC Champs on Saturday. Emma Richards made her Roadhoggs debut with an excellent 12th in the Senior Women’s race. In the Men’s Masters, we had Steve Kaubi and Adrian Jones coping well with a very challenging course. Pride of place though, goes to our Bronze medalist Gurmit. Well done Gummi!
On the tarmac, Rambo, Sophie and Sandra kicked off the year in the Oundle 10k. Congratulations to Sandra on a 2 minute PB.
At parkrun there were PBs for Imran and Charlotte, and a 150th run for Shila.
Week 2
There was plenty of action at the weekend. Charly kicked off her year in style with a 42 mile ultra; Winter Run to the Castle. The castle in question was Harlech, and she finished in 10.28.57. Off-road running was definitely the popular option and there was a fantastic podium place (3rd overall and 1st vet) for Angus in his first race as a Roadhogg, the Salcey Forest 10k. In a different forest (Sherwood) 7 members used a 6-hour Rasselbock event as part of their training for future challenges. Sally, Anna and Sophie completed 6 laps (34.72k), Nicole and Tej 5 (28.94k), Rash 4 (23.15k) and Amy L 3 (17.36k).
We had a good turnout for the fourth race in the Derby Runner XC League, with 9 women and 10 men, including debutant Martin W toeing the line. Gurmit and Sally were our first finishers, so an impressive weekend’s work for Sally.
Dan Creedon was our parkrun PB star this week.
Week 4
Cath was in action at the Boddington 10 (1.39.20) and Gurmit flew the flag in the Midlands XC Championships at Leamington. As well as a very creditable 85th overall, he also picked up 3rd in his age group in the Midland Masters Championships, which was part of the event.
