Week 2
Lots of action to report. We had an amazing 45 finishers in the Joy Cann 5, with impressive debuts from Jude and Aimee. Mo set a 30s PB (24.27) in taking a dominant win. There were also PBs for Gurmit, Matt L, Mark Ri, Nick, Nicole, Sarah V, Sally, Ian, Kathryn and Lee. Mo also achieved a Rhodium County Standard. Kathryn was 1st V50 (Diamond Standard) and Fiona was 2nd V60 (Platinum Standard).
At the weekend, several members took on the Cordwell Colossus, a 20-mile trail race near Sheffield. Matt L came 6th (3.12.52) and Fiona was 12th and 2nd female (3.40.54). Anna (4.08.16), Sally (4.12.37), Blake (5.08.31), Sarah V (5.08.55), Helen W (5.09.12), Alice (5.10.13), Xiaoye (5.17.17) and Sandra (6.06.57) were our other finishers.
Week 3
A big thank you to Brian for coordinating our parkrun takeover on Saturday and thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a great morning. The sight of all that burgundy must have been inspiring because Mo and Nicole both set PBs, and there were fast times for John D, Jude B and Cath.
On the racing front, Fiona (1st V60, 6th female), Marcus (75th) and I (95th) took on the 17 mile Belper Rover, which is a really nice mix of country lanes and footpaths. In my round-up of the Joy Cann last week I failed to mention that it was also Amar’s debut for the club and that John D got a PB.
In the latest league tables, our vet men look to have 3rd place in Division 1 sewn up and our senior men did just enough to stay out of the relegation zone. Our vet women have secured their place in Division 1 for another year, but our senior women have slipped out of the Division 2 promotion places. Finally, we’ll need some strong performances from our mixed team in the final two races to stay in Division 1.
