Wow, what a day! The Leicester Half is becoming synonymous with wild autumnal weather; I hear that they’re thinking of issuing marshals with life jackets instead of tabards! We had 29 finishers and I counted at least 8 ex-members as well. Despite the horrible conditions, it was a day of high achievements. Pride of place goes to Mo, who dominated the event; taking the victory by over a minute and a half. Gurmit also had a successful day, finishing 10th, grabbing a PB and two county medals (a bronze for third county runner and a gold for first county master). Matt L couldn’t run the race he wanted, but still finished an impressive 18th. Sam J went sub-1.30 again and trimmed his PB, while Dan made a hugely impressive debut over the distance. Kathryn was first VF45 and Dale got a prize for being first VM60. Mike C put in his best HM since 2014, Leah was just 29s outside her Pb and Komal and Cath lowered theirs.
Chris W and Haseeb preferred the rain in Coventry to that in Leicester with Chris bettering his Cambridge time and Haseeb being speedy, despite having to navigate lots of slow traffic at the beginning.
With parkrun taking place on the eve of the HM and during ‘The Deluge: Part 1’, there isn’t much to report apart from a sparkling PB for Charly (nearly a minute inside her previous best).
