Tom Martin

Men’s Road Running Captain

Ran my first race for Hoggs on 06/01/96 at the age of 16 but I had been to many races before this supporting my dad. Watching the Roadhoggs inspired me as an unfit teenager to take up the sport and join in. My proudest achievement is, that after 20+ years, I am still running, training, competing and socialising with the Roadhoggs with same the enthusiasm and enjoyment I have always had.

As men’s running captain I try to offer encourage and support to everyone. Over the years I have experienced all the highs and lows of running. During this time I have had spells when I have been training hard, coming back from injury, running slower than I used to and running socially. I am happy to offer any general running advice to anyone and am open to any suggestions from members (i.e. organising team events or social gatherings etc). I am there on most Wednesday training nights and road running races. I am also happy to talk to any new members to help them get to know people and feel welcome.
